SELLER IS LIABLE FOR SOLD UNIT

UNTIL TRANSFER IS COMPLETED AT THE COURTHOUSE

 

 

To sell or transfer your used boat/snowmobile/atv, please:

 

1.      Have a current boat/snowmobile/atv registration and snowmobile title, atv title or boat title (if boat is 17 feet or longer) if it has been previously titled.  Ownership cannot be transferred on an expired registration by law.  If the snowmobile, atv or boat has been previously titled, registration cannot transfer without the accompanying title with signature by seller.

 

2.      On the reverse side of the registration, please complete the Notice of Sale by listing:   a) date of sale, b) Buyer’s name and address, c) Seller’s signature.  Only Dealers with valid DNR ZZ Dealer Nos. can complete the dealer section.

 

3.      The buyer must take the seller’s registration to the County Recorder for transfer of ownership within five days of sale for a $2.25 fee.

 

4.      All snowmobiles, atvs and boats 17 feet or longer must be titled for a $10.00 fee.   If the snowmobile, atv or boat has never been titled before, purchase of a title will be required at the time of initial registration.  If the snowmobile, atv or boat has been titled, Seller is to complete the Assignment of Certificate of Title on the reverse side with buyer’s name, address and date of sale.  By law, County Recorder’s cannot accept renewal registrations on titled snowmobiles, atvs or boats without proper title transfer.

 

5.      Used boats are required to also have a bills of sale signed by the seller and payment of sales tax on the purchase price.    Sales tax is based on the sales tax percentage levied at the location of delivery.

 

6.      Snowmobile/atv registrations expire December 31, 2006 and can be renewed beginning September 1, 2006.  Boat registrations expire April 30, 2007, and can be renewed beginning January 1, 2007.

 

7.      Upon transfer, decals will still be current.   Buyer’s new registration will reflect previous decal numbers.
